Both teams were strong in the circle on Thursday, but North Platte was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Irish on Thursday. Emerie Carr started the game for Irish and recorded 21 outs.
Irish lost despite out-hitting North Platte eight to six.
Irish got things moving in the second inning, when Kiersten Halstead’s sac fly scored one run for Irish.
After North Platte scored one run in the top of the fifth, Irish answered with one of their own. North Platte scored when Rogers grounded out, scoring one run. Irish then answered when Kaycia Williamson grounded out, scoring one run.
North Platte pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Burgess singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run and Sage’s sac fly scored one run for North Platte.
Smith was the winning pitcher for North Platte. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out two.
Carr took the loss for Irish. She went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out four and walking zero.
Irish tallied eight hits in the game. Kylie Fields and Darcy Bowlin all collected multiple hits for Irish. Bowlin and Fields all had two hits to lead Irish.
Ramsey went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead North Platte in hits. North Platte didn’t commit a single error in the field. Sage had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
